Photos and GPS Track

You can see a slide show of the trip along with the GPS track on EveryTrail.com

Completed the Trip

Made it back to my car at about 8:45am. All was well, the car was there and not touched.

Here is a summary of the trip distances:
Day 1: 10.4 miles
Day 2: 9.5
Day 3: 9.3
Day 4: 1.4

Total for the trip 30.6 miles

I did all 30.6 miles barefoot, the blog is not call barefoot trails for nothing. I only received one small (1/4 inch) cut to the top of my foot. Most hikers would have more than that in blisters. I also have a raw spot on my right shoulder, about the size of a quarter, were the backpack strap goes.

I will post pictures later.

Woke to a Red Sun Rise

Last day all that is left is to walk the couple miles to the car. I had a great time but somehow John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads" is stuck in my head.

Dry Reservoir Shelter

This shelter is also nice with a raised wooden floor. Buggy though retired to my bug net at 7. This shelter is off the trail by 100 yard or so and behind a hill. It would have been very hard to find without the GPS. But I had already save the shelters location so the GPS took me right to it.

Day 3

The first part of the day was walking on dirt and paved roads. Fortunately only part of Hell Hollow Rd I needed to walk as the trail took a right into the woods. The trail returned to the road later but only to cross it. After that point the trail was forest walking. There was a nice section next to Lowden Brook. It would even have a waterfall if there was more water.

Because I misses the trail to Pharisee rock I had extra time. I took some long breaks at MT Misery Picnic area and on the top of MT Misery.

Another Beautiful Day on MT Misery

It is also very windy and the hawks are soaring on the up draft as the wind hit the cliff.

Completed the Loop

I completed the loop ahead of schedule because I missed the side trail to Pharisee Rock. I have been resting at the picnic area and filled up on water. Will continue shortly.

Road Walking

Today has been a day of road walking. About 3 miles so far another 1.3 to go. At one point the trail was just off the road. This part was seldom used and was very over grown with a section of prickers.

Day 2

I arrived at Dawley pond shelter around 5:45. This shelter is better than the last one as it has a raise wooden floor. Not nearly as many bugs but there are still some. Can hear geese out on the pond as I write this.

I have been taking 5 min breaks every half hour and I think is working as my knees feel fine.

Erickson Wildlife Marsh

Very pretty with the trees reflecting in the pond. Some of the trees are starting to change colors. Fall is on the way.

Beach Pond

Made it to beach pond in RI about 11. Took a 1 hour break to enjoy the view and filter some water. The trail just north of green falls sp goes over and through lots of ledges. After route 138 it is a woods walk.

Day 1

Today went very well. My knees feel ok, a little sore so I hope they can hold up for two more.

I found the major road crossings the bigest chaleng. It was not obvious which way to walk along the road. At one point the trail went onto a dirt road with lots of no trespasing signs. I quickly hiked through that section and no one drove by.

There have been vey few bug on the hike, but there are a lot of mosequotos at the shelter. I an glad I brought my net.

Green Falls Pond SP

I made it to my shelter for night one. Decided to walk back to the pond. I am sitting on what another hiker called sunset rock. The sun will set right in front of me over the pond. I will leave before as I want to get back to the shelter before dark.

On Top of Mt Misery

Made it to the top of Mt Misery. It is not like the name but is very pretty. The sun is bright and warm and there is a nice view.

Ready to Go

It's Sunday night and I am all packed and ready to go. The weather looks like perfect hiking weather with highs in the mid 70's. So I will be heading off early in the morning (before dawn) so I can get in a full days hiking and get to my first nights shelter without rushing.
